Fitness Goals are Easy; Staying Consistent is Hard!

In my experience as a serious weight-lifter, gym-goer and personal trainer I believe that (on paper) achieving your fitness goals is EASY. The hard part comes with staying consistent, disciplined and committed to putting in the work.

In reality and in the context of science and physiology, gaining or losing weight is as easy as adjusting your caloric intake (calories consumed daily) above your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (gain muscle) or below your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (lose fat); Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDE) is essentially the amount of calories you burn throughout the day; your basal metabolic rate plus the amount of energy expended during all other activities. It's a calorie game at the end of the day, which makes this whole process easy right?

On paper, it is; the hardest part about achieving your fitness and weight-loss goals is staying committed all day-everyday and trusting the process. It's never easy to commit to something every single day but nutrition and your exercise/activity level is a necessity to achieve any sort of goals in the gym.

Those days that you wake up sore or feeling tired and unmotivated are the days that are going to test your commitment. If you want to lose fat or gain muscle bad enough, these are the days that you should be showing up for yourself the MOST! Everyone can go to the gym, get in an amazing workout, eat right and take care of their body when they "feel good," but can you commit when you're tired, low on energy and drive and feel your absolute worst?

That is the difference in succeeding in your fitness goals and not. Can you show up for yourself, your body and your mind every single day? If so, than you will succeed; if not, than you have a lot of work to do on yourself to get to that point (mentally and physically).

This is the same when talking about almost anything in life that is going to test or challenge you. A great quote that comes to mind is "if it was easy, then everyone would be doing it."

Those goals and dreams that you so badly want are only going to come to you if you put in the work and do that consistently.

So yes, losing weight or gaining muscle is "easy" but doing the work to achieve either one never is.

Thanks for reading...and do yourself a favor; commit to, not only yourself, but to all of your goals and dreams to your fullest level as well.

Best,

FHF Team
